"I wanted to surprise my husband with a painting depicting the birds and pollinators that we work to attract toour suburban Chicago yard & gardens. I Commissioned Mrs White for her talent of painting on Burl wood. We've owned several Joan White pieces through the years and loved every one of them. They all were lost in a wildfire in Colorado. We were heartbroken to lose our cabin perched in the most beautiful setting imaginable. I asked Joan for an original piece that would encompass our Kawuneeche Ranch and sent her a written story of what the place meant to us and photos of the wildlife that gathered in the meadow and on our front porch.
